You just gotta love technology.

...Nostalgia...
No this is not a photo of my camera.
I found this great camera sitting in a 'swap shop'
a couple of years ago,
took some photos and
then just looked at them for months before getting the nerve to try the drawing.
The precise detail in 'Nostalgia' was over whelming at times.

You can read more at the above link.

My camera is still in possession of the memory card and still not giving it up...at least not willingly. If you read my last post you know the whole story.

I still haven't had time to get to get to the camera shop...and still haven't resorted to the 'hairpin'.

Most of my free time has been spent working on the commission of Mr. Lincoln. Even though my XTi wont give up the memory card...it is still willing to take photos, at least it appears to be taking photos. So I'm hoping to have some good WIP photos of these final drawing steps on Lincoln.

The commission of Lincoln is one of the largest drawings I've done. At 12x24 it is almost too large for my drawing table. I had to attach it to its own board to keep from creasing the paper.

I know there is no photo, but his jacket and shirt are just too cool. I love my carbon pencil for the deep darks...no shine, and great for showing the various shades of the fabric in his jacket.

I knew full well how important my camera was to me...but this has been really frustrating. I'm just hoping that the photos I've taken are still on the card when we get it out...and that it is possible to retrieve the memory card without damaging the card or the camera.

This experience has made me consider again...purchasing an additional camera. You know, that handy little 'point and shoot' camera I wrote about a while back. Still haven't made that purchase.

Have a good week.
Marsha

Sooooooooooo ...
How did you post the photos of the work with the film and with that fabulous detailed vintage camera???

Did you use your scanner???

Amazing as always... both of them.

..Marian,
I used 'Magic'...would be nice wouldn't it?

Actually both of these drawings were done earlier in the year and the photo files are on my computer.

I have a scanner, but have never had much luck scanning drawings..the camera (with a good lens) seems to do a better job at grabbing the fine detail.

I know...I cheated. The camera and film are companion drawings and I still have the originals, but have sold several prints.

Hi Marsha,
Just wanted to say I have a Canon xti camera, Canon has a usb-to computer cord goes on left side of camera into the computer--Canon also has the software to download to your computer--you can take as many pictures as your card will hold then down load directly to computer then once on the compuetr delete off card, while the card is still in camera, start all over again--never having had to take the card out of camera(not until you see what it takes to remove it without breaking it). The Canon instruction booklet out liners the steps to make this work, I never use a card reader anymore, and downloads so qucikly from camera to computer--good luck jim

..Joann,
Thanks for the wonderful compliments on my drawings. I've learned all that I know from others and enjoy giving back.

..Jimmy,
Your kind note is appreciated. I realize there is a usb to computer cord, I just can't for the life of me remember where I put mine. I know it is in a 'safe' place:) Obviously, safe and well hidden. Thanks for the advise though. Will keep you updated.

Great drawing Marsha - love the details. I hope you get your camera to cooperate soon! I carry a Nikon CoolPix in my purse at all times then I have my larger Nikon D40 and lenses. I love them both!
