Weekend Chat Line...HOPE for the future

President "elect" Obama
_________________________________

As much as I would like to remove myself from the mess our nation is in, and the changes that will be necessary to raise us up again to the status we once held...I cannot.

We elected a new president this week in what was a historic election process. It doesn't matter who you voted for...it does matter that you voted and it does matter that we now stand together as one, as this new president struggles to mend a wounded nation.

Yet I will say this...I sit here today with great HOPE. Hope for my country and hope for its people.

I've wondered why I have this feeling of hope. Is it because of the obvious...a change in leadership which will certainly give us new direction? Is it because without hope there is nothing to aspire to? Or is it because of my faith that I choose to believe in what has yet to materialize?

The election of Oboma as our new president will certainly bring change. I don't expect any quick results...the mess we are in as a nation and the threatening situations around the world are not going to be corrected overnight. My HOPE is that the downward spiral can somehow be stabilized.

HOPE is believing in what cannot be seen. We all have our personal hopes and dreams. These dreams are why I get up in the morning...Why I push forward with my drawing and painting, creating new pieces when all the news media says "no one is buying"...Why I'm continually striving to maximize the marketing of my work even though results are slow to materialize. I believe I have a future. Without HOPE, life would be dismal indeed.

My Faith has always sustained me and it does so today. I believe we are going to be just fine. We tend to measure our wealth, health, and happiness by the 'worlds' standards. Yet by God's standards if we have something left after paying our debts...we are rich!

I sit here today a "rich woman"...secure in my HOPE for the future. Hebrews 11:1 says "Now faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see".

My faith in my God and my Country is strong.

So I ask...Do you feel encouraged by the election of a new president? Do you still pursue your dreams or have you put your "art life" on hold? When life's directions look dismal, what gives you hope?

The "Chat Line" is open...I look forward to your comments and please feel free to comment on what others have to say. Remember...when you share, others are blessed.

My Final Thoughts: Know for certain...we are a blessed nation and a blessed people. Together we can accomplish great things. Look after yourself, your family, and your neighbor and know there is a better tomorrow.

Sincerely,
Marsha

I signed on to your blog for art, not politics. I love your art but you've drifted away. So, GoodBye.

Anonymous,
There is much I could say in response to your statement, but I will leave it at this...I believe any artist's life flows beyond the easel or the drawing board. Art is about life!

We must always have hope! God is my source no matter what I hear on the evening news. Your words only provided another window to your beautiful soul.

Hi Marsha,

First things first, so top of the list tonight--your help last week at FineArtStudioOnLine was great, getting my blogs back up and running, my thinking they had copies taught me never hit delete, archive only. Marge saving the day by having the RSS copy. Thank you so much for your concern and your dedicated work to straighten out my mess. Not a lot of folks know how you make our websites work and look good.

I love to talk art too, but pausing for a moment to acknowledge our countries great process, that can be taken for granted, is appropriate, and sharing your view is worthy of reading. When we don't say what we mean and mean what we say, we're all in trouble. I respect your other commenters view of only wanting to talk art, their choice, but do we as artist only talk art on our blogs? Most of us that blog, want to express heart felt thoughts and feelings in that process some are not in tune, once again that is a key part of communication. Some will be for us and some will be against us and life is not diminished by having differences, in fact it's actually made richer. Sometimes when people have other things pressing or other issues surface, responses might be slanted in a different direction.

For those of your readership, who enjoy blogs, mine are very personal, sometimes touching deep issues so I can relate and encourage you to maintain who you are. In the light of eternity, it is between you and God, not anyone else. Your best is great keep it up!!

Best wishes--many thanks--Jimmy

Just stopped by and saw your most recent post. I can't say that our new president elect gives me any hope. I think we very likely will see the deterioration of many of our liberties in the next few years. But, that being said - our HOPE should really not be founded in any person, but rather in our Great God who does not fail us, and has already secured our greatest freedom.

So - that being said - I have committed myself to pray for our new president every day, as well as all our leaders. I am praying for wisdom beyond himself, and that he will choose to seek God's direction in all matters - domestic and international. I am praying that he will surround himself with advisers who do the same. And I am also praying for us as citizens that we remember to seek the God who has blessed us during the course of our history.

Jimmy,
Thank you it's always a joy when you post. Always inspirational and uplifting.

Helen,
Glad to have your thoughts and wisdom. If McCain were our president elect I do feel I would have the same hopes...a real HOPE that the downward spiral that our nation is currently experiencing can somehow be stabilized.

I join you in praying for our nation and it's leaders...and I hope others will do the same. These are difficult times with difficult decisions to be made by all...(both our leaders and our citizens) God Bless us all.

Hi Marsha...
Yes... Thank goodness we have the ability to vote and to help make our country stand once again for the things we believe in.
I think both candidates were good men and am pleased that so many people felt empowered to make their thoughts felt through their vote.
Be well, Marsha!! Hope is ever present ... aren't we lucky?

Like you Marsha, I am feeling great hope now about the future our country, although it's going to take a long time for the new administration to dig us out of the very deep hole the Republicans have put us in. It's thrilling to have a well-educated, intelligent, experienced and thoughtful person in charge, someone who will seek out the best people to assist him in running the country. In my experience, genuinely bright people are not threatened by surrounding themselves with other brilliant people, even if they have dissenting views, something Bush apparently didn't tolerate.

And it's your blog, so good for you for speaking out about whatever you want!
